So there I was, alone in my cozy basement apartment with nothing but my trusty PC and a cold pizza to keep me company on a Friday night. After binge-watching all of Cobra Kai season 3 (best show ever), I decided it was time for some quality alone time…with my games. I logged into Steam, clicked on 'Recommended for You', and that's how I stumbled upon 'Finally Together'. The artwork caught my eye first; it depicted two cartoonishly attractive humans smooching passionately while surrounded by rainbows and unicorns (my weakness). But when I read the description: "Join Sally and Jake as they navigate through obstacles both internal and external to finally be together", I knew this was destiny calling. The game itself is like playing through a cheesy romantic comedy, only you get to choose the outcome. As Sally or Jake, you make decisions throughout various scenarios, from awkward office parties to intimate dates at home, affecting your relationship with the other character. Each choice leads to different branching paths, each one more steamier than the last. But let me not paint too vivid a picture here; this is supposed to be a family-friendly blog (yeah right). Anyway, after hours spent choosing wisely (and sometimes less wisely) – heck, who could resist kissing Sally under the mistletoe during their office Christmas party? Not me! – I finally reached the climactic ending where our lovely couple finally "got together". And boy oh boy, did we get together! My fingers were aching from frantically clicking, my face flushed from giggling so hard. In the end, it didn't matter whether my choices resulted in them living happily ever after or having a painful breakup. What truly mattered was experiencing a heartwarming story filled with laughter, tears, angst, and lots of hot smooching action. As I shut off my rig, satisfied yet also a little sad that my virtual adventure had come to an end, I sipped my lukewarm diet Coke and reflected on my journey with Sally and Jake. Sure, the graphics might have been basic at best and the plot predictable, but dammit, it hit all the right spots in the most satisfying way possible. In a world where everything feels constantly chaotic, stressful, and disconnected, Sometimes all anyone really needs is a good old fashioned story about love conquering all, even if it's between pixelated characters in a grown-up indie game called 'Finally Together'.
